WASHINGTON, DC--The National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) announces the appointment of Carol Jones to the national Board of Directors effective June 13, 2005. She was appointed by the Board to fill a vacancy created when Director David Hanson resigned to accept an elected position as Vice President of Professional Development for the International Interior Design Association (IIDA). NCIDQ policies prohibit a Board member from serving concurrently on allied Boards.
Jones, an interior designer based in Vancouver, BC is a principal in Kasian Architecture Interior Design and Planning Ltd., one of Canada's largest integrated design firms. Her work has been recognized with many design awards and featured widely in Canadian publications, and she frequently writes and speaks at conferences on workplace topics. She has been involved with the NCIDQ Examination as a member of the development team, a jury team leader and a member of the advisory board for the Practice Analysis. She is currently serving on NCIDQ's Certification Committee.
For most of her career, Jones has participated on the Boards of interior design professional associations at the provincial, national and international level. She has served as President of the Interior Designers of Canada (IDC) and of IIDA. She was a founding member of the International Facility Management Association's British Columbia chapter. Jones has been inducted into the College of Fellows of three associations -- the Interior Designers Institute of British Columbia, IDC and IIDA.
"Carol is well known for her long history of service to the profession in North America," says Janice Roberts Young, NCIDQ President. "She has been passionate about NCIDQ and served the organization in various ways throughout the years. We are now so fortunate to have her wonderful insight and energy directed to service this year on our Board of Directors."
Hanson, principal of DH Designs in Vancouver, BC was elected as a Director to the NCIDQ Board by the Council of Delegates. His two-year term ends December 31, 2005. During his Directorship, Hanson was actively involved with the Council's Interior Design Experience Program (IDEP), serving as Chair in 2005 and the Council's Finance Committee. Prior to his Board service, Hanson was a member of the Council of Delegates, representing the Interior Designers Institute of British Columbia and was actively involved with the NCIDQ Examination as a member of the Validation Committee.
"All of us on the Board of Directors appreciate David's service to NCIDQ and to the public we serve. His steady professionalism has earned him the respect of his colleagues. We will greatly miss his input, and we wish him the best in his new position with IIDA. His commitment to the education and development of future practitioners will serve IIDA and the profession well," says Young.
