WASHINGTON, DC—The National Council for Interior Design Qualification, Inc. (NCIDQ) announces its Board of Directors for 2012. The Board, made up primarily of interior designers, ensures that the health, life safety and welfare of the public are protected by establishing standards of competence in the practice of interior design.
The NCIDQ Board of Directors is made up of seven interior designers and one public member, each elected by NCIDQ’s Council of Delegates. NCIDQ protects the public by establishing standards of competence in interior design and qualifying interior designers through a practice-based examination, which culminates in the NCIDQ Certificate. This credential proves that the individual has met the standards for education, experience and examination and can form the basis for licensure in regulated jurisdictions in North America. Every interior designer on the Board has passed the NCIDQ Examination and earned the NCIDQ Certificate.
The 2012 NCIDQ President is Mary Jane Grigsby, an interior designer from Arden, North Carolina. Kim Ciesynski, an interior designer from Reno, Nevada, will serve as President-Elect, and Patty Blaser, an interior designer and educator from Lincroft, New Jersey, will serve as Past President. Serving with them are the four interior designers: Lovejoy Duryea (New York, New York), Victoria Horobin (Toronto, Ontario), John Klai (Las Vegas, Nevada), and Ernest Rhoads (Seattle, Washington), as well as the Public Member, Mike Stanley (Wayne, Pennsylvania).
“Our Board of Directors is the heart of our organization,” says NCIDQ Executive Director Jeffrey F. Kenney. “As strategic and creative thought-leaders, the Board members all have a clear passion and dedication to our mission. As NCIDQ evolves to keep pace with the profession and meet the needs of our various constituents, our Board members’ diversity of backgrounds creates a stronger organization. We know this Board will play a critical part in our growth this year.”
