Fact or Fiction?
Debunking Common Myths

Lightbulb
Myth: Applicants have until June 1, 2009, to submit their applications to take the NCIDQ Examination this fall.

Fiction: Many people misinterpret what the June 1 deadline includes. Applicants often believe they must only submit the online application by June 1 in order to take the NCIDQ Exam.

In actuality, there is more to the application process than just submitting the application form. The entire application process must be completed by June 1.

Please share the following information with any prospective NCIDQ applicants!

There are several steps to the NCIDQ application process, including: completing the online application, submitting payment and collecting and submitting all supporting documents. All of these steps must be completed and NCIDQ must receive all application materials by June 1 in order to take the exam this fall.

ALL supporting documents must be submitted to NCIDQ in SEALED envelopes that have been signed/stamped across the back. Supporting documents include: official transcripts, three letters of reference and work experience verification forms. Learn more about the supporting documents on our Web site by clicking here.

NCIDQ will not review an application without payment. We must receive all supporting documents AND payment (including checks) by the June 1 deadline in order to review an application. In other words, if an applicant mails his or her supporting documents to NCIDQ on June 1, we will not receive the materials in time to review.

Remember - applicants can submit their applications and supporting documents at any time. The earlier they submit their application materials, the sooner they will be notified whether their applications have been approved. If their applications are missing information, NCIDQ will notify them, and they must submit all requested information before the June 1 deadline.

Your Feedback is Needed!
HSW button
Last month we told you about our new feature - the Health, Safety & Welfare (HSW) Education Portal.

You can view the HSW portal by going to www.ncidq.org and clicking on the HSW button located on the top left of our home page (also displayed right).

The HSW portal features a three-dimensional, interactive floor plan of an office that meets typical regulatory requirements, from fire-rated doors to wheelchair-accessible lavatory sinks.

You can use this feature to educate your clients, code officials or allied professionals on the value of your services and how interior designers protect the safety of the users of a space. You can also add a link to this portal on your Web site as an educational resource!

We want your feedback!

Check out the HSW portal, scroll over areas of the plan, view the various design requirements and evaluate the graphics and content.

Let us know what you think!

E-mail us at hsw@ncidq.org and give us your comments or suggestions on ways to improve the HSW portal.
