New Information on Exam Study Materials
Study materials for the 2010 exam will be available soon. Here's a look at what will be available:
New! Section 3 Practice Design Problem (PDP) 2009-01
NCIDQ's new Practice Design Problem (PDP) 2009-01 helps exam candidates prepare for the newly formatted practicum section of the exam by simulating the actual testing experience. The new PDP is a complete sample examination that includes all the exercises candidates will encounter on the actual examination.
Developed by the committee that wrote the examination, NCIDQ's Practice Design Problem comes with:
* Problem booklets and codes for all three parts of the exam * 18" x 24" vellum drawing sheets * Online examples of a passing and a failing solution
New PDPs will be released after each practicum examination. Practice Design Problems are available to anyone; you do not have to be an approved exam candidate to purchase one.
The new PDP will be available for purchase soon (around the beginning of December). Candidates will be able to purchase the online solutions with the sample examination as a money-saving bundle or individually at any time.
New! Online Multiple-Choice Exam Practice Tests
NCIDQ is finalizing an exciting new multiple-choice study option. We will launch online practice tests in early 2010. There will be two tests available initially, one each for Sections 1 and 2. Each test consists of 75 multiple-choice questions and approximately represents the same percentage of questions per content area as the real exam. The questions have either been used on previous exams or have been written for the practice test by the same committee that develops the actual multiple-choice exams.
Please note: the multiple-choice examination is still a paper-and-pencil examination. Only the practice tests will be delivered on computer.
More information about these products and how to purchase them will be available soon. |
NCIDQ Celebrates Milestone Certificate Holders
NCIDQ
is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. In honor of this
accomplishment, we are featuring four milestones in Certificate holder
history in our QLetter issues!
This month we are featuring Pamela Mazow, Certificate No. 15000
Pamela Mazow passed the exam in April of 1999. She received her education and work experience in Massachusetts, where licensing is not required to practice interior design. Despite the lack of regulation, Mazow took the exam because she felt strongly that passing the NCIDQ Examination was important in order to maintain the standards of the profession. She believed it signified a certain level of knowledge, experience and quality.
"I am proud to say that I am an NCIDQ Certificate holder," says Mazow. "Good design not only comes from creativity and taste, but also from a knowledge base about the history, process and resources involved in the profession."
Mazow, now the President and Principal of PKM Design, Inc., is a strong advocate for the NCIDQ credential. "I spent a lot of time gaining an education and experience, and I passed the NCIDQ Examination for the right to call myself an interior designer. Yet no matter what the licensing requirements, I will always be proud of that achievement."
Look for more milestones in our December QLetter! |
Local Indiana Support Needed
Attention Indiana Certificate Holders
The state's interior designer registry is now active. The Indiana coalition asks all Certificate holders who work in the state to add themselves to this voluntary registry. With this registry in place, the interior design profession in the state has a legal basis for what is included under the legislative umbrella. The legislation provides for the voluntary registration for designers who provide interior design services and who meet certain education, experience and examination qualifications. NCIDQ Certificate holders need to submit their current NCIDQ Certificate number and expiration date and the $100 registry fee.
Qualified designers who choose to be registered will be able to use the term "Registered Interior Designer" after their name. If you are interested in becoming a Registered Interior Designer in the state of Indiana, please visit the Indiana Professional Licenses Agency's Web site at www.pla.in.gov/interior.htm for more information.
If you have questions about the registry or want more information, please contact Jill Mendoza, SAFE President at jill@idoincorporated.com. |
